A second
extension of the exhibition "In Memoriam: Lee Kuan Yue", with the
addition now of an added item — the Singaporean flag that was used to drape the
coffin. Long queues reported since the opening on March 25, over 80,000
visitors. Among other items on display are the red box in which the former PM
kept his working documents; barrister’s wig from the time of his admission to the bar in Britain; and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual
gifted by the former SG Union of Postal & Telecom. Workers after he won
more than two years back pay for 1,000 clerks. A shadow perhaps of
curatorial correction apparent in the curt
telegram included that was
wired to his family for dinner arrangements returning from an overseas trip: in order to save the government
money. (1958)
Soon a
virtual rendition of the exhibition will be posted online for those unable to
attend in person.
Straits Times, Home, B3, reporting on the same page 765
visits yesterday at the Natural History Museum for the opening of the Dinosaur
exhibition. Wednesday 29 April 2015
