The shelf-stackers, majority Malays at Reference on
the eighth floor of the library, wear their EXPERTISE emblazoned on the rear of
their jackets. (Worn against the air-con.) In the signage on the
buses the drivers are honoured as Captains. Of course the politicos are the
very best and brightest, people tapped from all fields in the community to
serve this island-state, for the benefit of all. (Remuneration reflecting.) Where would Sing’ be without
them? Go to ML or Indon and look-see, doubters are told.
